About Shahira

I started taking Belly Dancing lessons in the seventies. I was so intrigued with this beautiful art form that I continued taking classes, and eventually I started dancing in restaurants and at parties. Over the years I have continued to study the dance, and have taken classes and workshops from some of the best in the field: Marta Shill, Sah-Ra, Bert Balladine, Delilah, Janaanie, Mesmera, Tonya and Atlantis, Kamaal, Horatio Cifuentes, Fatiem, Feiruz Aram, Suhaila, Anaheed and Aziza Sa'id. These people, and many others, have greatly influenced my dance and my teaching.

In 1985 I started teaching for the city of Claremont, and since then have expanded my classes to include the cities of San Dimas, Chino, Ontario, Diamond Bar, Chino Hills and Upland. I also formed a student troupe, "The Saidi Dancers." They perform at the LA County Fair and various other venues.

I also have a dance-supply business "Shahira's Trinkets and Treasures," and I am a vendor at many dance events in the Southern California area. I sell music, DVDs, Zills, jewelry, hip scarves, harem pants, Chole tops, beaded bras and belts, and many other items. This web site is my latest venture so that I can offer some of these items on line.

Belly Dancing is my passion and I love performing on stage, but I also enjoy teaching and sharing my knowledge and experience with my students. They are the next generation of Belly Dancers!
